Tricking my picky eater

Caleb, my oldest, is my picky eater.  If it resembles a vegetable or meat, he's not going near it.  Unless it's a cucumber which for some odd reason he loves.  No hot dogs, no chicken nuggets (unless they come from McDonalds).  Somedays we wonder how the boy lives because he eats so little.  Well during the summer I had checked out a cookbook at the library called Deceptively Delicious.  The book had a lot of foods in there that I can get him to eat on a normal basis but these had hidden meats and vegetables inside them.  I thought this was an amazing idea!  I tried a few recipes and they were great.  So I asked for this cookbook for Christmas.  After searching quite a few stores, my mother in law found it for me.  Thanks, Dee!  Well, Saturday I get up and determine that today he will eat something that is good for him.  So I start steaming cauliflower to hide in the eggs.  (Not for Caleb because he won't eat eggs either, but for the other kids.)  Then I steam some sweet potatoes and get ready to begin deceiving my children.  I get it all pureed up and I added sweet potatoe puree to the pancakes. I smile and act like they're normal pancakes, ignoring the orange hint to them.  I fix his plate and hold my breath waiting to hear the "Eww mom, these are gross!"  but to my surprise, I hear, "Mom, these pancakes are awesome! Can we make these again tomorrow?!"  Whew...success!  For the first time since he's been a baby, my son ate sweet potatoes!!!  Small victory but I'll take what I can get!
