Parade

A few years ago, when Kaden was still a newborn, I decided I would venture out to Lanesville Heritage Festival.  Now for those of you not from around here, Lanesville Heritage is a weekend long event.  There are rides, booths, crafts, tractors, tractor pull, basically a mini fair.  Lanesville isn't a big town and on this weekend, you can barely get through here there are so many people coming in from everywhere to attend.  So, I decided I'd get out my twin stroller, get Caleb and Rylee all bundled up and venture out to the festival.  Nathan was working it, mom offered to keep Kaden and I was all geared up for an exciting fall festival with the kids. I had no idea how crazy this thing was or how big!  I get to the town of Lanesville, which at the time, we had never heard of or been to...funny, now we live there, but at the time I am thinking oh there will be signs directing us how to get there...wrong!  Apparently everyone but me, just knows how to get there.  So here it is, dark outside already, and me with my horrible sence of direction is trying to take the kids for a great time...making memories, you know!  So I finally find a place to park in the madness, and I mean madness!!!!  And I get out my stroller....now Lanesville isn't a city for city girls like me...it's country...gravel roads, hills, and all. I'm pushing two toddlers in a twin stroller up these gravel hills.  Not my idea of fun!!!  The kids rode a few rides, memories were made and I swore I'd never return to Lanesville Heritage again ...not with little ones, no way no how....

Fastfoward to present day....Nathan had to once again work Lanesville Heritage, however this year he worked right outside our front door at our church parking cars.  Not so bad.  It was a rainy morning and the kids and I had nothing to do.  So we decide to venture out and not get out of the car but try to find our church's float for the parade.  I call the lady in charge and find out where and when and the next thing I know I hear myself ask if the kids can ride in the float during the parade.  Nextt hing you know I find myself fighting the madness outside my front door and heading down to "Main Street" and the beginning of the parade.  So much for "never going back again."

So the kids rode on the float and had an awesome time!  I rode with them and helped supervise the other children that were there.  We had a great time!  Caleb had the parade wave going on!  He was loving it, singing the songs they learned at VBS at the top of his little lungs waving at everyone.  Rylee loved it too...she sang her little heart out and in spite of her tendency to get car sick, she did great and had a lot of fun....Kaden....well, he's potty training...need I say more?  Oh but I will because this is too funny to not share.... So the teenagers from church were walking beside the float passing out popcicles, the adults were pulling coolers full of popcicles...Kaden says he has to pee.  There is no where to stop and no where to pee!  I'm telling him to hold it the best he can and as soon as we got into the fairgrounds I'd pass him off to one of the ladies from church walking beside and see if they'd take him potty.  Of course this is the longest part of the parade and he's dancing around.  He got distracted and so did I and I forgot about him having to pee and so did he.  A while later, I look back and see him in the corner of the float in the back getting ready to whip "it" out and take a potty break.  I jump up and run over there, trying to at least keep it in his pants and I look up to see our pastor walking right next to where Kaden is relieving himself about to get a nice little splash!  I was laughing so hard I was crying.  The other two ladies on the float with us saw me jump up and realized what was going on and they were hysterically laughing.  Oh the memory we made that day...never did tell Pete he almost got a little wet that day.

Moral of the story...put your potty training toddler in a pullup before attempting to ride on parade float!
